Career Summary:

Tera King has been a Professional Forester for Northwest Management, Inc. since 2003.

  • Environmental Planning – manage various types of planning projects including Community Wildfire Protection Plans, Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plans, Environmental Assessments, and Forest Management Plans with large stakeholder groups
  • Facilitator – work with various groups including county and city governments, interest groups, industry lobbyists, etc to reach common goals, develop action plans, and implement proposed projects as the Idaho Implementation Committee Coordinator for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative program as well as on various types of collaboratives and regional planning projects
  • WUI Coordinator – serve as Wildland Urban Interface Coordinator for 10 Idaho counties providing assistance with wildfire mitigation plan updates, hazardous fuels treatment project development and implementation, grant writing, and public outreach
  • Grant Writing -  write and submit planning and hazardous fuels treatment grant applications (Western States, Community Protection, Communities At Risk, FEMA, etc.) for various types of projects on behalf of county governments and/or other entities in addition to working with private forestland owners on qualifying for Environmental Quality Incentives Program funding
  • Environmental Management Systems Auditor – facilitate and conduct chain of custody, fiber sourcing, and forest management system audits for companies seeking certification through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Forest Stewardship Council, or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
  • Forest Management Project Manager – work with numerous private landowners and local governmental agencies on implementation of Forest and/or Fire Management Plans including the development of landowner objectives, location of property boundaries, implementation of resource inventory, analysis of operational and economic limitations, development of a silvicultural prescription and subsequent management plan, and long term implementation of harvest schedule and other management activities such as planting, pile burning, weed eradication, etc.
